                                                                                           ABSTRACT

The beam based alignment technique is applied to 2-GeV storage ring of the Pohang Light Source to measure the misalignment of quadrupole magnets and the offset of beam position monitors. A part of the excitation current of each quadrupole magnet is shunted through an electronic shunt circuit. Then the closed orbit receives a perturbation due to the current reduction. When this process is done to all quadrupoles individually, the misalignment of each quadrupole can be measured by taking the orbit difference. Also, by using two quadrupole magnets, we can measure the absolute offset of each BPM. This paper presents the method of beam based alignments and experimental results taken from 2-GeV PLS storage ring.
